Last week, Frédéric Van Oost from Smart Airport Systems, had the privilege of joining Sangita Sharma from Delta Air Lines on a panel at the 2025 Aviation Technology Forum in Sacramento (USA), organized by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). ?️
Our discussion focused on Sustainable Aircraft Taxiing where we explored the opportunities and challenges of implementing the TaxiBot — an innovative, pilot-controlled vehicle that enables aircraft to taxi without using their main engines.
A key takeaway was the real-world field experience of TaxiBot operations at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport – AMS and JFK Airport, demonstrating its potential to significantly reduce ground emissions and fuel consumption.
The conversation underscored the importance of collaboration among airlines, airports, ATC, and regulators to unlock the full potential of sustainable Aircraft taxiing. With the support of California Air Resources Board / South Coast Air Quality Management District and other key stakeholders, this technology can be a game-changer for net-zero ground operations in California!
Excited to see these innovations shaping the future of aviation! ✈️?
